The Money Mirror – Revealing the Truth About What Really Matters to Entrepreneurs

Money can be an interesting mirror for business owners. It can reflect in a very tangible way your choices. Take my choice years ago to hire my first private coach for $15,000. That was a huge investment for me given that my business was in the very early stages.

That investment on private coaching spoke volumes. It said that I wasn’t playing at a hobby – this was business. It said I was ready to get my hands on the strategies I needed, from someone who had already traveled the path that I was on, so I could finally attain my business goals – instead of banging my head on a brick wall.

Now many of us are scared to make that kind of investment, especially in ourselves. So we dabble. You know what that’s like… you really aren’t committed, just a little interested from time to time. You read a blog or two, watch a webinar, or sign-up for a one-time class. That’s not investing in your business growth and the reality is you’re going to get out of it what you put into it.

I don’t know about you but when I invest a considerable amount in a coaching program I’m committed to showing up for every call. I’m committed to doing my homework and having all my questions ready so my coach can help me. I’m not only committed but what I call “all in.”

With my first private coach, I remember how I threw my heart over the bar and went for it and how quickly things began to change for me. I started attracting more ideal clients, more people said yes to my higher priced programs and business opportunities began to grow and expand all around me.

That $15,000 was one of the best investments I’ve ever made. I love what Benjamin Franklin said about this, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”

If you’re still struggling to invest in your business growth here are some additional advantages to consider:

Advantage #1: Fresh Perspective. There’s a big difference between passive learning and being coached. When you work with a coach you’re feeding your mind with new ways to look at things. We all need to see things from another perspective because on our own we often don’t see the forest for the trees. We can’t pinpoint exactly what it is that’s holding us back. An experienced coach can quickly ascertain what’s holding us back and provide us with pragmatic tools so we can live uncomfortably comfortably.

Advantage #2: Compounded Predictable Results. I know from experience that the rewards working with my private coaches aren’t just that year but they compound my success for many years after we’ve worked together. Whenever I feel like I’m at a plateau in my business I know it’s time to find a coach that can get me to the next level.

Advantage #3: Authenticity with Clients. You can’t expect to ask someone to invest $3,000-5000 in one of your premium programs if you’ve never done it. If you are a consultant or coach who is asking your clients to invest yet you never have, are you really authentic? Can you truly understand how they feel making this kind of investment? No, the truth is the energy just isn’t there when you’re being insincere.

So if deep down you know you could benefit from private coaching, my advice is to view it is an investment. It’s not spending money, it’s investing with the expectation of a return. If you combine your personal commitment with an experienced and successful coach you’re going to have a winning combination and easily create more income than you would have letting money just sit in your bank account.

Before you speak with a prospective coach in an introductory call do some homework. Write down your questions for him or her. Also, write down your biggest challenges and ask them how they’ve helped other clients overcome them.
