What You Need for a Rock Solid Business Foundation

A solid foundation is critical to your business success. I see too many new business owners “wing it” without a foundation and their business quickly folds. They abandon the thought of a dream business and end up looking at the Help-Wanted Ads for a “job”.

If you want to build a business that will thrive, in any economy, you need to build your business on a CONSISTENTLY full pipeline of ideal clients. No clients – no money – no business. When I just started my business I remember one evening over dinner my husband, Marc, asked me a life-changing question, “Sarah, when are you going to start stop playing hobby shop and start making a profit in your business?”

Ouch! The truth can hurt, even when we need to hear it. Looking back I see that I was sitting around waiting for the phone to ring… Not exactly a foolproof system to get clients in the door. But that comment was the jumpstart I needed, so I made the commitment to do whatever it would take to get clients and create predictable results.

You have to embrace the selling process, even if that means that you have to step into your discomfort zone. Some of my clients would rather hide behind their computer all day posting on social media or buying that next “bright shiny object”. But if you want to have a successful business you need to create some systems to get clients in the door and then stay focused to work the plan. This way you are spending your time being productive and strategically marketing your business.

You have BIG opportunities right under your nose that you can take action on to magnetically attract instant money in your business – today. It’s important that you continually raise income every month so you avoid those revenue ups and downs in your business and you can actually afford to take a vacation!

Here are a few ideas to make money by the end of the month:

  • Contact past clients and offer them a new service offering. Contact them via email or phone and come from a place of service. Find out what’s been going on in their life and then let them know of a special offer just for them. Your prior client knows, likes and trusts you so this is a very easy way to create more money in your business.
  • Collaborate with a colleague to create a product or service you could both offer to your list. Can you look at doing a teleseminar or a workshop together? By working together you can market it to your two lists and split the work, expenses and profits.
  • Turn your single sessions into packages. This will help your clients get long-term results they’d never achieve in one session and it will lead to an ongoing revenue stream for you.
  • Offer your services to a joint venture partner who doesn’t do what you do but works with the same audience. Partner with another person so that they can sell your services. This provides major visibility for the person who is offering your services and it highlights you. A win-win for both of you!

We always think we have to create new money but we have money opportunities right in front of us. These show up as Low Hanging Fruit. I use this metaphor because it is the easiest and simplest opportunities that are available to you right now that require little effort. They are simple, easy to execute and best of all they lead to predictable profits.

Successful business owners keep a full pipeline of clients by turning over every rock and always looking for more opportunities. When you find an opportunity – take decisive action! That’s what separates the successful people from the unsuccessful ones. The fact is that we need to make money in our business – or it’s not a business but an expensive hobby.
