Does Your Social Media Plan Include These Five Strategies?

Social media is one of the most powerful marketing tools available to you. It’s affordable, convenient and effective. When people see that you’re the expert with the solution to their problem they’ll want to learn more. That’s how you draw them to your website where you can convert these prospects into high-paying clients.

But it can be very time-consuming and distracting if you don’t have a plan to use it effectively. The minutes and hours can really fly by when you’re logged on to Facebook! The key to using social media effectively and as a moneymaking marketing tool is to be strategic.

What should your social media plan include? Take a look at the following five strategies:

Be consistent and clear with your branding. Being consistent with your brand on social media will help your followers associate you with the solution you provide. For starters, be consistent with your username and profile information across the various social media platforms. You may have extensive experience in a variety of fields but keep it relevant to what you’re doing now. Do you really need to include your job history from 1987? Don’t dilute your message with too many details! Make sure that it’s crystal clear what your expertise is and how you can help your target market solve their problem.

Use automation. By distributing your content through a variety of social media platforms you’re chances of connecting with your ideal client go way up! Thankfully, automation makes this possible. For example when you post a new blog you can set it up so it automatically pops up as a Tweet or Facebook status update. Only a small percentage of people are online when you actually post your content on social media so think smarter and send out your link to a specific post multiple days and times to maximize your exposure. I change up my question or headline so it looks new and fresh through the week.

Repurpose your content. Are you having a hard time coming up with new content week after week? Repurpose what you already have! One of the things I like to do with my posted blogs is read through the information and pull out what I call my golden nuggets. I put quotations marks around it and add my name. People love when I do this and I post it on social media. They retweet me, make comments and oftentimes reply.

Make it easy for readers to share. Don’t forget to ask your followers to share, like or retweet the link to your blog. And make it easy for them to do so! There are social media plug-ins you can add to your blog so if someone “likes” what they’re reading all they have to do is click on an icon to let their friends know.

Be of service to your audience. You want to avoid being overly self-promotional with social media. It’s “social” media after all so aim to be friendly, authentic and of service to others. Sometimes when I put it out a new blog on social media I ask a question along with a link to my blog post. This gets more people engaged into commenting and sharing my post. I get to interact with them and see what’s on their minds. You can also search on Twitter or LinkedIn for questions related to your expertise. Chances are someone has a question you can answer. Sharing helpful information and solving problems is the best way to get your expertise noticed.
